2020 has been a year of unforeseen change and circumstances. Many of us were or are furloughed; jobs have been lost, stress levels higher than usual, possibly working from home for the first time with multiple people or alone, feeling isolated, online school/class, homeschooling children, etc. The list is endless.
I know organization and productivity posts have been a hot topic this year. I am a type-A personality and would love to throw my organizational/productivity tips into the mix.
I have been through several unexpected circumstances this year and many changes, probably just like you!
Below are a few of the tips that have helped me get through this year:
Inspirational quotes: It sounds silly, but looking at inspirational quotes in the morning (or even throughout the day when I’m feeling discouraged), I’ve found it super motivating and honestly comforting. It can make you feel like someone else knows exactly what you are going through and get through it!
Time-blocking: Time blocking is exactly how it sounds – it is scheduling out your day in blocks of time based on the task. If you are a visual person, it is a great way to see your day and keeps you on task.
The good old to-do list: In my opinion, to-do lists are one of the best things ever invented (ha-ha)! I like writing out my to-do lists with boxes at the end so you can check off the box when you accomplish the task – the best feeling! Another tip: write everything down. Even if you think you will remember it – write it down, always carry a notebook/planner or write in your phone notes.
Yoga: I swear yoga at any time of the day is good for the mind and soul. I love to do a five-minute yoga flow on YouTube. It’s called Yoga by Adriene, and I swear it rewires your mindset and just feels right. Lately, I’ve been doing yoga at night because I hold all my stress in my shoulders and neck, and they get so sore! Can anyone relate, lol?!
Find YOUR planner: I capitalized “your” because everyone deserves the planner of their dreams (ha-ha) – I’m very passionate about this topic (I have a dream of designing a planner someday). I search and search for a planner each year that I love. There are so many different types out there; it is important to find one that works for you. If you love it, it will keep you more organized. I will always be a fan of the paper planner over digital.
These are a few of the tips I have right now! I’ll come back with part 2.
Hope these tips are helpful! xo
